One of my favorite things about theatre is its ability to make communities grow. CityShakes is no different. We’re building a community out of our company that will only continue to grow. We’ve already met so many amazing people this year: working on Shrew, in the audience of Shrew, through our social media, and most recently at As You Like It auditions. We were only able to cast a limited number of people, but I feel as if everyone who auditioned is now a part of our community. Casts are transient, but communities are transcendental.

Here’s a big warm welcome to the newest members of our community, some of the As You Like It cast:

sunnyKate O’Toole – Celia

Kate is genuinely delighted to be making her City Shakes debut in As You Like It.  Throughout her career, she has been fortunate to work with professional companies including the Hampstead Players, Utah Shakespearean Festival, and Chicago’s Live Bait Theatre.  Most recently, she played multiple roles in Little Candle Productions’ premier production of The Innocence of Father Brown.  Favorite roles have included Lainie in Two Rooms, Cinderella in Into the Woods, Ashie in Deity Clutch, and Goneril in King Lear.  Proud to be a resident artist with the Porters of Hellsgate classical theatre company, she also works regularly as a voice over artist and a (copy writing) describer of visual media for blind and visually impaired audiences.  She can also be seen in the Youtube series, Harry Potter and The Ten Years Later, as well as in the second season of A God Named Pablo.  She wishes to express a great deal of gratitude to The Porters for their long time collaboration and friendship, and much love to Sean.

Goran OzanicGoran Ozanic – Oliver

In 1998 Goran moved to Perth, Australia where he would study drama at the Perth Academy. Since then he performed in many theatre productions including: Buried Child, Edmond, The Tempest and Sexual Perversity in Chicago. Some of Goran’s Australian Film & TV credits are: Parallex, Streetsmartz and Two Fist One Heart (Feature).  He has studied at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting NYC, and while in New York, Goran was in an independent feature Chlorine with Vincent D’Onofrio, and performed in several plays for the Harold Clurman Laboratory Theatre (HCLAB). In 2010 he moved to LA to expand his Film and TV experience. He graduated from The Art of Acting Studio with Ron Burrus and Brad Henke. He has performed in Much a Jew about Nothing, and Waiting for Lefty which also toured in New York as well as being part of Occupy LA and NY. Recently he has been in three short films, Nina, The Jewel Thief (Fringe) and The Girl And The Sea (Sundance Film Festival). Goran is looking forward in being part of this ensemble cast and company of City Shakes in the wonderful As You Like It!

Caitlin Leow – Amiens the Fiddler

Caitlin Leow graduated from The Ohio State University’s Department of Theatre last June 2012. While at Ohio State, Caitlin dabbled in Shakespeare and contemporary dramas through the department, but also performed around Columbus in musicals. She has been acting since a very young age and decided that when she graduated she would head out to Los Angeles to continue her career in a more competitive venue. Caitlin loves all LA has to offer and is especially happy to be getting back to the classics with CityShakes.

Mark Holzum – Charles the Lion

Mark is thrilled to be working with City Shakes in his first theater performance in Los Angeles! Some notable roles were Cliff in Cabaret, Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing, Pee Wee Reese in Jackie and Me, and Gerry inDancing at Lughnasa. After doing theater all over St. Louis, Mark started to pursue acting on film, doing voice work as well as appearing in commercials and starring in an indie feature film. Thanks goes always to his supportive and loving family and friends and the City Shakes team for giving him this wonderful opportunity!
