The City Shakespeare Company is now casting:

macbeth

Directed by Brooke Bishop
Adapted and developed in collaboration with the ensemble

Which so far includes:
Allison Volk, Colin Martin, Mary Ellen Schneider, and Spencer Paez

What it will be:

Macbeth is only as scary as our most raw moments of humanity. In this way, it is perhaps more terrifying that we’ve ever imagined.

Brooke will lead this 6-person ensemble through an investigative, collaborative rehearsal process that will strive to pull out the most visceral, recognizably human core of this text. Through utilizing all the tools of theatre, the ensemble will create an experience for our audiences that engages the senses, chills to the bone, and lifts the spirit.

Where and when it will happen:

Rehearsals and performances will all take place on the west side of LA. Location to be announced.

Rehearsals: Sundays, 2-10pm, Tuesdays, 6-10pm, and Thursdays, 6-10pm, from September 8-October 30

Performances: Thursday & Friday evenings at 8pm, from October 31-November 22

Who we’re looking for:

Male ensemble members: Age range, 22-45. Men of all ethnicities, “types”, and “looks” are encouraged to submit. Each ensemble member will play a handful of characters – versatility and openness are a must. This rehearsal process will be highly physical, so while extensive movement experience is not necessary, mind-body awareness and bravery are desirable. Those with regularly occurring conflicts with the above schedule need not submit. A stipend will be provided.

Assistant director: Brooke seeks a partner and assistant who is passionate about Shakespeare, visceral performance, devised work, and/or storytelling in any medium. This person may come from any background – interest is more valuable than experience. This person will perform a number of crucial functions often associated with those of a stage manager, assistant director, dramaturg, and/or production manager. These functions include communication with cast and design team, scheduling, text research, note-taking, observing and recording, and participation in the creative process. A negotiable stipend will be provided.

If you are interested in working with us, please send an email to cityshakes@gmail.com with a note explaining your interest, a resume, and for actors, a headshot.
